Dorset Fed Charity Race
Each year the Dorset federation hold a charity race from Carentan and in 2019 the chosen charity was the Dorset cancer centre. Based at Poole Hospital the fed raised Eighty pounds for this great cause thank you to those of you who supported the event.
Illness can affect anyone at any time which is what makes supporting charities particularly those connected with the health services so important because for all we know one day we may find ourselves in need of help of any kind!
For the 2020 season the federation has elected to support the Salisbury and district hospital STARS Appeal specifically the Spinal injuries recreation fund which has been a great help to one of the Dorset feds members. As fanciers and friends are aware Pete Hollard was forced to part with his birds due to serious illness and is now paralysed from waist down and has spent many months in hospital and this brilliant charity has been doing all it can to help Pete and the other patients during one of the most difficult times a person can face! the charity does great work to ensure that patients who face months of hospitalisation are kept in good spirits organises trips and even something as simple as going for a coffee , all of which sounds simple but these things really do make a big difference in helping a person to make the best possible recovery .
So, come on folks please get behind this great cause and do what you can to help your own after all charity begins at home!
