Saturday June 14th 2014 and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Messac for the second of their federation special races which turned out to be a very difficult race. The pigeons were liberated at 07-30 in a north east wind.
In Etwall & District Flying Club there were only four pigeons home on the day with three of them belonging to Paul Williams who took first third & fourth positions. Paul’s winner was a four year old cheq cock doing 1061 with his second pigeon a three year old cheq cock doing 819 and the third a four year old cheq cock doing 745. In second position was A. Peach & Son with a two year old cheq hen doing 854.
In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Roger & Mark Duffield took the first three positions. Their winner was a yearling slatey hen doing 1059 followed by a four year old slatey hen doing 1057.6 then a four year old cheq cock doing 1057.4. In fourth position was Mr & Mrs Dowd with a five year old cheq cock doing 1017.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Stone gets the red card with a two year old blue cock doing 1045 with Bob Ford in second position with a Roland Janssen which was bred by club mate John Hassee doing 947 followed by Stan Hall in third & fourth positions with a three year old cheq hen doing 719 and a yearling blue hen doing 631.
In Derby South Road Mick Leszczyszak got the winner with a three year old cheq cock doing 1044 followed by his good cheq hen doing 839 to take third position. In second position with a three year old schalie pied hen doing 896 was Dave Glew.
In the Silver Ghost Homing Society Ernie Barker gets the winner with a mealy hen doing 924 with Rueben Hough in second & third positions with his dk/ch two year old hen doing 752 followed by a yearling hen doing 605 with fourth position going to Terry Budd with a red hen doing 594.
The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation also held a inland race from Frome with the pigeons being liberated at 09-00 in a light north east wind.
In Etwall & District Flying Club it turned out to be a one loft race with Mr & Mrs T Childs & Son have an excellent day only sending 8 pigeons and taking the first five positions. Their winner was a yearling b/w/f cock doing 1249 followed by a dark yearling cock doing 1227 the next three were all three year olds doing 1206, 1194 & 1193.
In Derby South Road Club Roy Gregory & Son take the top two positions with their two good blue cocks doing 1243 & 1240. In third & fourth positions was John & Steve Hicks with a six year old blue cock doing 1225 and a yearling blue cock doing 1221.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Willis & Family get the winner with their good two year old Lambrect cock doing 1231. Taking the next three positions is Mick Stone with a yearling blue cock doing 1223 followed by a two year old blue cock then a two year old cheq hen doing both doing 1200.
In the Silver Ghost Homing Society Rueben Hough takes the red card also second position. His winner was a two year old b/cheq cock doing 1223 followed by a yearling b/cheq hen doing 1192. In third & fourth positions was Brian Dyjas with a yearling blue cock doing 1166 followed by a yearling b/cheq cock doing 1164.
In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Mr & Mrs John Dowd take the red card with a two year old cheq cock doing 1218 with Roger & Mark Duffield in second position with a yearling blue hen doing 1197 followed by Rick Shelton in third position with a yearling blue cock doing 1182 and club secretary Derek Towers in fourth with a blue yearling cock doing 1180.
Derby Premier were at Windrush with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation and the pigeons were liberated at 09-05 in a north east wind.
Taking the first two positions was the inform loft of Roy Gregory & Son with two cheq cocks doing 1272 & 1259. In third & fourth positions was Paul & Lynda Todd with two yearling blue cocks doing 1251 & 1229.
