BICC

Report by Gareth Watkins

March 7th 2013

Well, preparations for the new season are going on apace with the new transporter delivered and being fitted out ready for racing as I write this brief report. New members are joining on a daily basis with more than 100 having joined since the AGM.

There seems to be a lot of interest from “God’s County” Cornwall and I have supplied membership application forms to Gail Anthony who competes along with husband Dickie from their loft near Camborne. So all those down there in the far west who are interested in joining the UK’s most progressive National organisation can obtain forms from Gail or, alternatively go onto the club’s web site biccpigeons.com Steve and Lee Luscombe from Plymouth enjoyed great success in 2012 and the opportunity is there for all you Cornish men and women to compete on the international stage- you know you’re more than welcome.

All is set ready for our Irish friends to compete with us in the Nationals and Internationals and it would be good to see fanciers from the “land of the heather” join us in our quest for International fame and fortune. We would then truly be a National, or indeed International band of brothers.

The series of articles I have written highlighting the performances of past winners of the BICC in International races seems to have gone down well and I can inform readers that there are twelve articles in the series with the last one putting the spotlight on the late, great Jim Biss. Others in the series yet to be published feature Jim Peters - double Barcelona winner, Dave Delea and Dave’s brother Paul who have both won the Barcelona race on two occasions plus a raft of top prizes at National and International level.

The members’ handbook should be ready for printing now and will be with the printers in the next week or so. The race programme has been finalised and is reproduced below.
