You’re always going to hear this and that about small Federations, with most of it being talk of someone doing well and shouts of “they are not flying against anyone” The Teesside Federation who were once one of the biggest Federations in the UNC are down to three flying Clubs in 2019 with the Fed not even reaching birdage of 600 this year, but these lads and lasses compete every week when possible. I for one have never ever knocked the members for winning against small numbers, I respect these fanciers more so when they prove the knockers wrong, they have done it in the past and they have done it again this season. Ali “Mac” McLeod won 1st Up North Combine Roye and also winning the NEHU Queens Cup. Now we have Paul Gatley, Graham & Dale Harrod the winners of 3rd UNC Bourges, and now the “W B Napper Memorial Trophy” for the Best Two Bird Performance from Bourges & Reims and the F & I Watson Memorial Trophy” for the Best Performance from Roye, Bourges and Reims. And let’s not forget last season when Jappa Appleton & Paul Longstaff won 3rd UNC Burbure from a convoy of 10,633 birds, another top-class performance. Give these members and their birds the chance to prove themselves on the big stage and they show everyone else the quality of birds they are flying week in week out. Respect these fanciers’ whatever number of birds they are flying against, because I’m sure they respect you when you win.
